Fail dresses: return to sender

>> CHECK OUT THE MOST RECENT VIDEO <<

This might sound generalising and oversimplifying, but I don't think I'm wrong when I say that most of the social media is used to show ourselves at our best. Best make-up, interesting locations, perfect fitting outfits, tasty-looking food, awesome friends.. and that's cool, because most of us like looking at positive stuff. :)

It will be different today though, as this post will be about dresses that I ordered online.. and that were definitely not a success when I put them on. By the way, this is what I usually do.. I come home, see the package(s), take a shower, set up the camera and start trying them on.  Am I weird?

It was a long work-day, so I couldn't be bothered to do make-up! So it's back-sides or cropped-off heads.. trust me.. it's for the better! :P

So the dress depicted above was just a little too tight and the colours weren't really working for me. And also the fabric.. I didn't like it.. it gave me goose-bumps.

This second dress.. I don't even think I have to tell you why I returned this one. This dress is a clear example of how a piece of clothing can look great from the front-side.. but absolutely rubbish from the back-side.

This third dress is a classic example of how something looked good in theory on the website, but when finally on my body.. it just looked all frumpy! Ah well.. you win some, you lose some.. right?

And this is why I always take photos when I'm trying on stuff.. from all angles! It's better than relying on just the mirror! ;-)

I have no videos of this dress fitting session, so I'll just leave you with two most recent ones!

  1. I totally feel you darling. Some dresses have all the details in front leaving the back plain and almost ugly. However, these dresses look great on you. Hahahhaa, back side or crop head.

  4. I have never seen anyone do a post like this - it's a great idea! Love it! And good idea taking photos, that's always a good way to judge how a dress is going to look, instead of just looking at yourself straight on in a mirror.

  6. it is a great idea to take photo of the dress, better than to rely soley on the mirror..and you are right to return the dresses you didn't like....as you said, we can't win them all.

...but I must say your legs look fantastic in all of these dresses, so at least that is a win win situation.

  9. I love the print on the first dress, so bold and refreshing!
I do the same thing and take pictures of every outfit and from all angles too. It's so disappointing when you order something online and then find out the fit is all wrong:(
    Have a great weekend

  11. I think its about understanding the kind of body you have and the type of occasion you wanna wear dress to, in that way so many women problems will have been solved the easiest way!
This is a great post for women who may not yet be aware of their body types and when to wear which kind of dress
    Great post!

  13. such a great idea to try on in front of the camera! I feel like my mirror makes me look taller or different than I do in real-life so I always have to go from one mirror to the next to be sure I am loving the outfit! The last one does your body no favors, you have a killer figure and it is just taking over. The top one fits nicely but I hear ya on the fabric, that could be make it or break it.

Thanks for sharing as like you mentioned Social Media/blogs/etc are always about the best things in life it is good to see our reviews whether positive or negative! :)

  17. Such a great idea to take pictures from all angles. I always find that it looks different on camera than even what I see in the mirror (I usually end up looking worse.) I need to start doing this before buying something - great post!

  18. I hate online shopping because things never look as good online as they do in person! It's such a disappointment. Awesome post though, it's a very real look at fashion blogging.

  26. I think such a post is so interesting. Sometimes we order something that doesn't turn to be as good as we imagined. The first one doesn't look bad anyway, the other two are worse because the second one doesn't fit well on the upper part of your back and the third one doesn't make justice to your fit body :) I have quite a few similar situations myself, should post them as well ! For more 'perfect' we try to show ourselves in social media the truth is... life comes with imperfections! ;) I hope your next purchases make up for this one!
